A downloadable game for Windows

ChemLab is a puzzle game where you must assemble simple molecules from their atoms before time runs out. The atoms do not move a single square each time; they slide until they hit a wall or another atom. Although it sounds simple, there are some tricky situations that might challenge your mind.

Inspired by the classic Atomix game released in 1990, ChemLab was developed by a solo indie game developer. A lot of effort and time were put into this game to make it as engaging and interesting as possible.

If you have comments or feedback, I will be happy to hear them and will update the game if necessary. And if you feel generous, please consider supporting my efforts by donating, so I can keep improving this project and continue making more games like this.

This game includes:

  • 15 diverse levels with gradual difficulty.
  • Educational facts about the molecule at the beginning of each level.
  • The ability to save and load your game at any time.
  • In-game leader board with unique score and ranking systems.
  • Immersive music and sounds playing as you construct the molecule.

same here. I read your devlog about the game and thought I'd give it a try but no mac version. I'm pretty new to godot but my impression was it's fairly easy to cross publish. maybe that's not true in practice, but you should look into it.

Hi ruzz,

I think the process of exporting the game to Mac is not difficult in Godot. The problem is how to test it?

I don't have a Mac to test it on. Only Windows and Linux PCs. That's the real issue.

Just let us know when and where we can test. You have at least two Mac users... ;)

I'm currently not testing my Windows binaries either, as I don't have a working Windows (virtual) machine anymore. The first Windows user will be automatically a sort of "beta tester"... ;p

We're all doing this as a hobby and at no payment at the end of the day... ;)

I agree with Daniel. not sure I'd promise extensive testing but you'll find out more than you know now by giving it as an option.

Looks interesting, but as I'm running on a Mac I can't play your game.

As you're using Godot Engine: Did you limit your game export to Windows only for a particular reason? Why not also export for Mac & Linux? Why not also export for Web and let users play it via web browser here on itch.io? That would increase your game's target audience... ;)

Since I've used Windows my whole life, I was kind of under the impression that most people use Windows for desktop PCs, but I guess that's just not true.

I will look into exporting the game to other platforms. Thanks. 🙏

arguably true in the wider sense. Windows dominates, but I think you'll find a lot of coders prefer *nix distros like MacOS.  Mac has about 20% of the market now, and I bet the profile of that 20% could be closer to indie game markets than the broader market of just everyone, grandmas included.
